REDS THREATEN TRAIN
CHINESE INSPECTION PARTY SENT BACK POSITION STILL OBSCURE Reed. 11 a.m. SHANGHAI, Wed. An international train conveying foreign Consular officials and journalists, for the purpose of ascertaining actual conditions at the scene of the recent Soviet military operations in Western Manchuria today, is reported to have returned from Chalantan. The mission, which has been abandoned, stated that Red troops threatened the train in the event of a further advance. The real position is therefore obscure.
