TWO YOUTHS ARRESTED CHRISTCHURCH MYSTERIES Press Association CHRISTCHURCH, Today. It is stated that the arrests made yesterday of two youths may result in the clearing up of a number of sensational burglaries and incendiary tires which occurred in Christchurch during July and August last. These included the fire at Bing, Harris and Company, causing £23,000 damage, and the fire at Brown and Company’s oil store. New evidence is also said to be available in regard to the shooting of Mr. Edward Hammond, of Hammond and Turner's, in July last. CONSTABLE COMMENDED ARREST OF YOUTHS Press Association CHRISTCHURCH, Today. . The capture of the two alleged burglars yesterday, James Wilfrid Gray, aged 19, and Charles Robert Gray aged 17, was due to Constable Albert Gillum, a young officer only recently from the police training school. It was stated by a prominent official that he showed courage, intelligence and determination and effected a singularly smart capture. Gillum first caught one man in the right-of-way, handcuffed him and then awaited the second man, who was armed, surprised him and made a sudden arrest, taking both to the police station.
