HOLIDAY ENDED
RESULT OF ASSOCIATION WITH UNDESIRABLES WARNED TO LEAVE TOWN Association with undesirable companions has brought Andrew Dodds’s holiday in Auckland to an abrupt close. Dodds, a labourer aged 50, pleaded not guilty at the Police Court this morning to a charge of being idle and disorderly, having insufficient visible means of support. Acting-Detective Packman, vrho had arrested accused yesterday, said that the man had been in Auckland since November 14. He was drinking heavily and associating with reputed and convicted thieves. He was half drunk and had only one shilling in his pocket when arrested. Dodds urged that he had come to town well supplied with money after working for 18 months in the country. His board was paid to date, and he had done a day or two’s work at Drury since his arrival at Auckland. Chief-Detective Hammond said that accused had a long list—a double pager—but he had not been before the court since 1927.
Warning accused to go straight hack to the country, where he would be out of trouble, Mr. F. K. Hunt, S.M., convicted him and ordered him to come up for sentence when called upon.
