BRITANNIA, THREE LAMPS
REOPENS THIS EVENING During several months past the popular Britannia Theatre at the Three Lamps, Ponsonby, has been completely rebuilt, and the new theatre will open its doors for the first time this evening - . The new Britannia Theatre has been entirely reconstructed from the foundations up, and is now one of the finest suburban theatres anywhere in New Zealand. It is commodious, with excellent seating and with a finely-con-ceived decorative scheme.
As this theatre ,was designed and built after the advent of the talkies it incorporates many of the lessons learned from actual experience with talkie installations. The acoustics of the new Britannia are excellent, as the theatre has been built solely as a talkie house. In commemoration of the gala opening the first picture will be the widelyknown all-talking mystery thriller, “The Canary Murder Case,” which is based on the exciting mystery story of the same name by S. S. van Dine. An excellent supporting programme of short talking and singing featurettes will also be presented tomorrow.
