Chide Is Not An Oil Painting
HE IS LIKE BEAUFORD NEW OWNER’S OPINION “I couldn’t say he’s any beauty,” remarked Mr. T. C. Trautwem. the new owner of the New —ealand champion. Chide, when asked what he thought of his purchase on seeing him when the Marama arrived in Sydney a few days ago. “He has a lean, strung-up look, but reminds me of Beauford. If he’s as good, he will do. Chide is the horse Mr. Trautwem paid 6,000 guineas for. There is a 1.000 guinea contingency to be paid, too, if he wins a race. . Mr. Trautwein hopes to win trian. • BO lie will be in worse plight than the seller if that 1.000 guineas doesn t change hands. Beauford Had Little Flesh Beauford was a horse who never put on much flesh, and showed little quality. But how good he was he demonstrated with defeat of such champions as Gloaming, Eurythmic, David, Violincello, etc. Chide, accordnig to his owner, is of the same type, big-framed, showing little flesh, and carrying the appearance of having trained hard. Lacking quality, he, however, bears a tradesmanlike appearance. Trainer F. T. Cush, who is to prepare Chide for racing, liked the horse on his first introduction when he stepped out of the box swung aloft from the Marama. A Wonder Horse He thinks he is a horse who will stand the Australian climate with its more changeable conditions from heat to cold than New Zealand's even temperature. Consequently he does not regret his lean appearance. Chide will go into work an Randwick when he has recovered from his trip, and it will not be long before he is showing his paces there.
