“WASTE OF MONEY”
INQUIRY INTO TRANSPORT ACCOUNTS BOARD DECLINES REQUEST “Any inquiry entered into in the vague and indefinite way suggested by the recent deputation of local body men will merely be an unjustified expenditure of time and money.” This was the reason given by the Transport Board at its committee meeting yesterday for a refusal to grant an investigation into tne finances of the undertaking as suggested by an unofficial deputation of local body members a week ago. In recommending the refusal, the chairman, Mr. J. A. C. Alluin, said the affairs of the undertaking had been thoroughly investigated, first by the Transport Commission which sat IS months ago. At that time the local body representatives had made an inquiry through reputable accountants. Mr. Allum gave his assurance that if the deputation was actuated by a genuine desire to assist the board duly authorised local body representatives would be given every reasonable facility to obtain a knowledge of facts relating to the undertaking.
