AN ENTERPRISING NEWSPAPER
“SOUTHLAND DAILY NEWS” PUBLISHES 48-PAGE ISSUE On the occasion of the Royal Show, held by the Southland A. and P. Association at Invercargill last week, the “Southland Daily News” published a special 48-page issue which is one of the biggest ever attempted in New Zealand by a provincial daily newspaper. The paper consisted of four 12-page sections, two of them being the ordinary news sections and contained an excellent report of the Royal Show. The other two sections were pictorial reviews of the growth, progress and scenic attractions of Southland. The photographs used to illustrate the letterpress were skilfully reproduced and reflected great credit on the printen The advertising totalled 234 columns, and included some very fine examples of display composition. Besides illustrating in a very graphic way the great development of Southland this special number of our contemporary is also a shining example of improved methods of newspaper production and we congratulate the proprietors on the efficiency of their literary and mechanical staffs.
