PUPIL’S RECITAL
MANUREWA GATHERING MOST SUCCESSFUL EVENING The Manurewa Picture Theatre was filled to capacity on Friday evening, when the pupils of Madame Aileen Frost gave their annual recital. The funds raised were forwarded to the Auckland Public Hospital, to provide toys for the young inmates. Mr. G. Gallaher, chairman of the Manurewa Town Board, acted as stage manager. The programme was well selected, each item being chosen with due regard to the pupils’ ability. Classical and popular items were given, the evening being most successful. Pianoforte solos were contributed by Joan Jennings, Gladys Osborne, Dorothy Mumby, Esman Young, Nola Young, Valerie Burton, Vincent Harrison, Jack Bennett, Eric Walker and Ted Walker. Character sketches were given by Peggy McLuckie, Ester Sandler, Joan Willett, Elsie Waring. Noel Blythe and Willie Burnard. Vocal solos by Madame Frost, Ina Coppins, Gladys Osborne and Mr. T. Galloway. An exhibition of fancy dancing was given by Misses Gaynor Maxwell and Cassie Gribble, pupils of Miss Cecil Hall. Highland and sword dances were given by Master Sydney Tye. Accompanists were Madame Frost, Miss Marie Darley and Piper R. MacLeod.
