WELCOME RETURN VISIT
WESTMINSTER GLEE SINGERS Before leaving for Australia in continuation of their Empire tour, the Westminster Glee Singers are returning to Auckland and will give a series of concerts in the concert chamber, Town Hall, commencing on Boxing Night. Mr. Branscombe states this will be the last visit abroad of these singers as the authorities at Home will not agree to them being absent for such lengthy periods. It means a serious loss to the choirs of the various* cathedrals to be deprived of men and boj's with the finest voices in England, so everybody in Auckland should take this last opportunity of hearing them in new and specially selected numbers from their extensive repertoire. This return visit will signalise the appearance of three new members, two boy soprano soloists, Masters Harold Robinson and James Humphreys, who are reported to posses beautiful voices, and Mr. Alfred Cunningham, England’s greatest baritone. Mr. Cunningham is an old favourite with New Zealand audiences having been here with another company of Westminster Glee Singers and also the famous Scarlet Troubadours. The Westminster Glee Singers are never dull nor are they too highbrow; they have their grave and gay moments and men and boys sing for the sheer love of it until that spirit is instilled into their listeners. The programmes are most diversified and appeal to all musical tastes. The box plans for the season open this morning at Lewis Eady, Ltd. A special matinee will be given on Thursday, January 2.
