BRITANNIA, THREE LAMPS
GRAND OPENING TOMORROW Tomorrow evening l another line new suburban theatre will be added to Auckland’s long list of talkie theatres. This is the Britannia Theatre, Three Lamps, which has been entirely rebuilt during the past few months. The new Britannia is a beautiful theatre, probably one of the best suburban theatres anywhere in New Zealand with excellent acoustics, airy, with comfortable seating and a unique decorative scheme. The first picture at this new theatre will be the -widely-known all-talking mystery thriller, “The Canary Murder Case,” which is based on the exciting mystery story of the same name by S. S. van Bine. This is an all-star picture, with William Powell as the calm, immaculate amateur detective; Philo "Vance, Louise Brooks, as the notorious New York chorus girl, who was murdered; James Hall, as one of the suspected young men; Jean Arthur, as his fiancee; and Charles Lane, as his father. An excellent supporting programme of short talking and singing featurettes will also be presented tomorrow.
