TIVOLI
“HARD BOILED ROSE” “Hard Boiled Rose,” the Warner Bros, talking production which is now at the Tivoli Theatre, is a most interesting motion picture with an excellent cast, a logical story, an intensely dramatic theme, and a lavish production. Especially imposing are scenes in many parts of a pretentious gambling house where much of the action takes place. The main salon, where various games are in operation is patronised by a throng of people. “Hard Boiled Rose” tells the story of an aristocratic Southern gentleman who becomes addicted to roulette, and whose consequent losses plunge his entire family into tragedy and his secretary into gaol. To save, her lover, a cultured girl of the South becomes the *Hard Boiled Rose” of the gambling house, and works for the clearance of the secretary’s name. Myrna Loy plays the title role of “Hard BQiled Rose,” heading an allutar cast, which includes William Collier, junr., John Miljan, Gladys Brockwell, Edward Martindel, and Lucy Beaumont. A full talkie supporting programme is also being shown.
