ORDEAL IN LIGHTHOUSE
CUT OFF FOR 47 DAYS FROM . WORLD RESCUE-SHIP’S PERILS PARIS. Monday. During the week of the gale, a black flag was displayed at the Lavielle lighthouse, two occupants of which, were cut off from civMisation for 47 days. Terrific seas prevented an approach till yesterday, when the seas prevented a rescue ship from getting nearer than 20 yards, and also smashed its rudder; but the ship managed to send off food by means of a life-line. Above the tumult, the lighthouse men were faintly heard to say, “Thanks. All well. We have got all we want.”
