SCALDED TO DEATH
BOY FALLS IN BOILING WATER MOTHER’S TRAGIC STORY Falling into a tub of boiling water which had been set on the floor preparatory to washing a dog caused the death of Kivell Angus Biddock, aged two years, according to evidence given when an inquest was resumed before Mr. F. K. Hunt, S.M., coroner, yesterday. The child died at the Auckland Hospital on December 3, and medical evidence showed that death was due to severe scalding. Mrs. K. J. Biddock, of Onewhero, mother of the boy, said that on December 2 she had found him sitting in a tub of boiling water, into which he had fallen when she was out of the room. In the opinion of witness, the child had been playing with the dog, and backed away from it, falling into the unnoticed tub. “I took the child to a neighbour, an exnurse,” continued Mrs. Biddock. "A doctor was summoned, and the boy removed to the Auckland Hospital, where he died on the following day." A verdict of accidental death was returned.
