ORDEAL IN LIGHTHOUSE

CUT OFF FOR 47 DAYS FROM WORLD RESCUE-SHIP’S PERILS Reed. 11 a.m. PARIS, Monday. During the week of the gale, a black flag was displayed at the Lavielle lighthouse, two occupants of which w r ere cut off from civilisation for 47 days. Terrific seas prevented an approach till yesterday, when the seas prevented a rescue ship from getting nearer than 20 yards, and also smashed its rudder: but the ship managed to send off food by means of a life-line. Above the tumult, the lighthouse men were faintly' heard to say, “Thanks. All well. We have got* all we want.”
