ROYAL AUCKLAND CHOIR
SUCCESSFUL YEAR REPORTED ANNUAL MEETING HELD Assets amounting to £l,llß were reported at the 37th annual meeting of the Royal Auckland Choir, held last evening. Satisfaction was expressed with the results shov/n in the annual report and balance sheet. Mr. J. P. Hooton presided. Appreciative reference was made to the valuable work done by two retiring members, Mr. S. J. Harbutt, the secretary, who is relinquishing his position after 30 years’ service, and Mr. Cyril Towsey, who has been for many years pianist and accompanist to the choir. Mention was also made of the services rendered by the conductor. Dr. W. E. Thomas, who lias completed his 25th year of membership. Sympathy was expressed with the families of the late Messrs. Martin Trenwith, Xesbit Mcßobie, C. E. Perfect and R. H. Gough, valued members of the choir, who died during the year. The following officers were elected: Patron, his Excellency Sir Charles Fergussop; president, Mr. J. P. Hooton; secretary, Mr. B. H. Coltman; assist-ant-secretary, Mr. T. Russell; treasurer, Mr. W. Coltman; librarian, Mr. J. Strickett; committee, Messrs. A. Trenwith. P. S. Cousins. A. M. Walton, J. H. Kinnear and L. O’Malley. Mr. Eric Bell was appointed pianist and accompanist. Gold badges for 15 years’ service were awarded to Messrs. IT. R. Harris and H. A. E. Magrath, a 20-years’ bar to Mr. A. G.-Walker, 25-years’ bars to Dr. Thomas and Mr. A. G. Fogerty, and a 35-years’ star to Mr. J. McCoskrie.
