REDUCING FIRE RISKS

PRECAUTIONS IN MT. EDEN INSPECTION OF THEATRES A quarterly inspection of Mount Eden theatres is to be made by the Fire Brigade station officer, according to a decision of the Mount Eden Borough Council last evening. This was the result of a report by the Fire Brigade Committee, the chairman of which, Cr. L. Joll, described the theatres’ fire-fighting appliances as not being in proper order. Attention was also directed to danger of overcrowding and placing of seats in aisles. The council decided to confer with the theatre proprietors with a view to stationing a fireman in each building during performances on Saturdays and holidays.
