NEW BOWLING GREENS
MT. EDEN’S LATEST ASSET BOROUGH ADMINISTRATION A 21 years’ lease of the new Nicholson Park bowling greens has been granted to the Mount Eden Bowling .Clutfc according to a report to the Mount Eden Borough Council last evening. The conditions of the lease require that a pavilion in brick or other permanent materials must be erected within 12 months. The drive for parking cars there has been surfaced and the widening of the road leading to the tennis courts is now being, undertaken.
The bitumen surfacing of the drive loading to the reservoir and the tea kiosk on Mount Eden is to be considered by the council. The proposal to install a heating plant at the Mount Eden swimming baths was referred to the Baths Committee, the Mayor, Mr. E. H. Potter, saying that filtration of the water was very necessary. The council, he said, had authority to raise the money for installing heating apparatus, which would permit of the baths being used in winter, and which, he considered, would be a revenue-producing proposition. A complaint of smoke nuisance from the Crothall Way Cleaning Company’s factory in Edendale Road was considered. It was decided to notify the owner that it must be abated immediately.
A suggestion that when the corner of Balmoral and Dominion Roads, a dangerous intersection, was set back a monumental arch should be constructed there, was sent to a committee for consideration.
