EDEN WOMEN’S BRANCH
A farewell was given by the branch to the late treasurer, Mrs. 'Wilson, who is leaving; for the 'Waikato. Mrs. Simmons, the chairwoman, said the members felt they could not let her go without showing their appreciation for the great interest she had taken in the election and also in the branch; as its treasurer she- has demonstrated sterling qualities. Mrs. Simmons then presented Mrs. "Wilson with a silver dish, on behalf of the members of the branch, wishing her every success in her new home. Mrs. von Sturmer and Mr. GioverClark, divisional organiser, spoke on behalf of the party. A recitation by Miss Grainger was much appreciated. Apologies were received from Mr. and Mrs. Trevithick, the Hon. A. J. Stallworthy and Hon. J. B. Donald. A very happy evening was spent in dancing and cards, about 100 guests being present. Excellent music was supplied by the “Merry Makers Jazz Band,” organised by Mr. Leo whose services were given free. The function was brought to a close by the singing of “She’s a Jolly Good Fellow,” “Auld Lang Syne” and the National Anthem.
