CROWNING CEREMONY
QUEEN CARNIVAL AT TE KUITI PRESENTATION MADE The crowning ceremony in connection with the Te Kuiti Catholic Church Queen Carnival was held last week, when the Sports Queen, Miss Hinu Ka\ye, was crowned before a large audience. As a result of the carnival a sum of £ 343 has been raised for the church fund. The ceremony was carried out very successfully and was greatly enjoyed by all present. The following took part:—Heralds, the Misses Dinsdale; standard bearers, Misses K. Rothery and W. Matthew; Peer of the Sword, Jim Stott; Mistress of the Robes, Miss Marjorie Barker; train-bearer. Miss Merron Broadfoot; peers, Masters Rex Cato, Brian Mills and Jack Adams; Archbishop, Mr. A. Blackman; flower girls, Kathleen Cotter, M. Allan, Joan Rothery, Eileen Cotter; pages, Norali Rothery and Julie Palmer; maids of honour, Elsie Kelly and Eileen Stott; Lord Chancellor, Dick Browne; Lord High Chamberlain, Jack Dinsdale; Queen’s champion, Mr. E. Churcher. The other Queen candidates were attended by the following:—Business Queen (Zena Connell), standard bearer, Miss R. Voyce; page, Norali Connell; flower girl, Jill Cleverdon. King Country Queen (Nola Stott), standard bearer, Miss Margaret Dooley; page, Mavis Cotter; flower girl, Nola Whyte. The conferring of honours, which followed the crowning ceremony, caused a great deal of amusement, the various titles bestowed being' peculiarly appropriate. After the ceremony dancing was enjoyed and supper was served. During the evening the secretary of the carnival committee, Mrs. W. Gunson, was the recipient of a presentation for her work in connection with the carnival
