PLAZA
“FOUR FEATHERS” Richard Arlen plays the role of the young British lieutenant who went to the wilds of the Sudan in an effort to retrieve his lost honour, in the Paramount picturisation of A. E. W. Mason’s famous novel, “The Four Feathers,” now attracting crowded houses at the Plaza Theatre. Part of the picture was filmed on the actual location of the story in Africa, by Merian Cooper and Ernest B. Schoedsack, famous for their production of “Chang.” Other featured roles in this mighty screen sensation which is one of the finest films ever seen in Auckland, are played by Wm. Powell, Fay Wray, Clive Brook and Noah Beery. There is a marvellous musical score accompanying this picture, played by an orchestra of a hundred. The score was written by Wm. Frederick Peters. The supporting talkie items include a gazette in sound, a comedy, a talking and singing scena, “Hawaiian Nights,” and a particularly amusing sketch, with songs by Elsie Janis, the London and New York musical comedy star.
