Upon the arrival of the Mount Eden Brigade the flames were in full possession and little could be done to stay their progress. Nothing was saved from the blaze. The house was covered by an insurance policy for £575 in the Alliance Assurance Company, and the furniture for £IOO. the Auckland Baptist Auxiliary, and by Mr. A. J. Lucas, secretary of the Grange Road Church, who made a presentation to Mr. Wilson on behalf of the church. The minister suitably' replied. Miss Twentyman and Miss Lucas played the organ and piano respectively, and Miss McTavish sang a solo. The presentation of an enlarged photograph of the church officers was made to the Rev. A. S. Wilson by Mr. F. E. Kretschmar.
