FAREWELL TO MINISTER
THE REV. BERNARD WILSON FUNCTION AT GRANGE ROAD A large and representative congregation met at the Grange Road Baptist Church last evening to bid farewell to the Rev. Bernard M. Wilson, the son of the pastor, the Rev. A. S. Wilson. Mr. Bernard Wilson lias concluded a four years’ course in the Baptist College, and was tor some time associated with the students of the Bible Training Institute. He goes to the Opawa Church, in the suburbs of Christchurch. Mr. R. S. Abel, an elder of tlio Grange Road Church, presided. The Rev. Joseph W. Kemp, president of the Baptist Union of New Zealand, said ho was glad to feel that not only had tliis young minister the benefit of a fine family tradition, but he had also a personal knowledge. Dr. J. J. North, principal of the Baptist College, referred to the minister’s future sphere of labour in Christchurch, where he himself had spent 21 happy years of ministerial life. He urged the new minister not to seek to present novel doctrines, but to declare the truth of God with a strong original and simple note.
