TWO BIG PICTURES The main attraction on the doublefeature programme at the Roxy Theatre is “Lucky in Love,” a gallant love story, which introduces the sweet voice of Morton Downey, one of Broadway’s popular songsters. “Lucky in Love” is a dashing story of an impassioned love that l'.'ues triumphantly over riches and rank and whirls swiftly from Ireland to America. It is a colourful story, tunefully presented. Huge locomotives rushing at breakneck speed to the rescue of victims in the Mississippi flood area, the construction of an entire locomotive in the great shops of the North-tV estern line. Lon Chanty as a veteran engineer, driving a locomotive more than 600 miles in filming the pictures—these are some of the thrills in “Thunder.” epic railroad drama synchronised with sound, which is now playing at the Roxy as the second feature. The new picture was directed by "William Nigh, and Phyllis Haver, James Murray, George Duryea. Wally Albright, jun., Frances Morris and others of note are among the players in the new production. Most of it was filmed in the Mississippi flood area. Chaney is seen in a role vastly different from his usual ones. It lacks the element of the bizarre but is intensely human. As an old engineer, past 70, but still the driver of a crack limited, lie has ample opportunity to embellish his role with glamour and adventure, and turns out the finest role of his career.
