MEMORIAL SERVICE

PAPAKURA CHURCH OFFICER A service was held last evening in the Anglican Church in memory of the late Mr. Joseph Batty, of Karaka. The vicar, the Rev. W. C. Wood, In addressing the large congregation, said the late Mr. Batty had been a parish officer for a great number of 3 ears, and practically died in harness. He had for many years represented the parish at Synod. He represented the diocese on the Trust Board, and as a member of the committee of the Church of England immigration scheme, was an active and enthusiastic worker. The service closed with the "Dead March” iu Saul, played by Miss F. Willis.
