FARRELL’S FAST SPRINTS In a 50 yards club race at Shelly Beach Baths on Saturday afternoon by the Ponsonby Swimming Club, H. Neale scored a good win. There were 20 competitors. Third: Worden 1, Rex Moore 2; 1 > Keane 2; 34 Over the week-end, members of University and Ponsonby Clubs conducted a 50 yards race and a water-polo game at Shelly Beach. The baths are 51yds 2ft in length, and, allowing for this, Auckland’s sprint champion, J. P. Farrell, must hace swum his heat and the final is under 26 seconds for 50 yards. Ponsonby won the water polo, 7—o. Details of the sprint are:— Final.—Farrell 1, Parsons 2: 26 l-3sec. Heats.—First: Stevens 3, Walmsley 2; 32sec. Second: McLeod 1, Parsons 2; 31 3-ss.
