LACE WEDDING GOWN
MANUREWA BRIDE ATTENDED BY SISTER AICKENHEAD—GIBBS The Methodist Church, Manuretva, was the scene of a dainty wedding on Wednesdav evening, when Mavis, the second daughter of Mr. and Mrs. H. W. Gibbs, Halsey Road, Manurewa. was married to Robert, the eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. John Aickenhead, Church Street. Onehunga. The bride, who was given away by her father, wore a becoming gown of ivory radium lace, with flared skirt featuring a handkerchief-pointed hem. ; prettily trimmed with georgette. Her embroidered veil was held in place with a coronet of orange blossoms, and fell in soft folds to form a train. She : carried a shower bouquet of white carnations and rosebuds, with maidenhair fern, from which hung streamers of roses. [ Miss) Averil Gibbs attended her sister, wearing a picturesque flared i frock of lime georgette, and small crinoline bat to tone. Her bouquet ; was of autumn shaded blooms and maidenhair fern. The officiating clergyman was the , Rev. W. Griffin, and Mr. Thomas . Aickenhead fulfilled the duties of best : man. Miss Craig presided at the organ. ; The reception was held later in the Hontai Hall, which was charmingly ’ arranged with pink and mauve sweet- : peas, and festoons of asparagus fern. 1 A large floral wedding bell was sus- ■ pended over the bridal group, i Mrs. Gibbs' received the guests wearing an ensemble of sapphire marocain. with reliefs of amber, and wore a, small hat to match. She carried a 1 posy of blue and mauve pansies. [ Mrs. Aickenhead was wearing a frock of dove grey silk rep, with a small hat to tone.
REMUERA BRIDE CHOOSES SMART ENSEMBLE SUIT I CANTERBURY—THOMAS The marriage was recently celebrated at St. Mark's Church, Remuera, of Marion, younger daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. G. H. Thomas, of Hyde, Cheshire, England, and Agra, India to Desmond. Lawrence, elder son of the late Mr. Charles Canterbury. The bride looked very charming in a smart ensemble suit of beige wool crepe de chine and paisley silk, »he was given away by Mr. Howard Rout. reception was subsequently held at the residence of Mr. Shilson. Shepherd’s Avenue, Epsom, where dancing and music were enjoyed by a large number of friends. Mr. and Mrs. Ryan intend to take up ! xlieir residence in Papakura. j
