WOMEN’S INSTITUTE
ALBANY BRANCH The annual meeting of the Albany Women’s Institute was held in the library. Mrs. Phillips, vice-president, occupied the chair, and expressed sympathy with the president, Mrs. Bruton, in her illness. The first annual report and financial statement were submitted and adopted. The following were elected for the new committee: —Mrs. Bruton (president), Mrs. Phillips and Mrs. Schofield (vice-presidents), Mrs. B. Dickson, Mrs. Hobson, Miss Hoton, Mrs. Richards, Mrs. R. Stevenson (treasurer), Mrs. Smith and Miss Potter (secretary). An interesting account of Mrs. Kingdon’s recent trip to Apia was then read, and two mats made by the Samoan natives were displayed. Tea was provided by the retiring committee, and the singing of the National Anthem brought to a close a very pleasant afternoon.
