AN ADMIRAL ILL

LONDON, Wednesday. Anxiety is felt for Admiral-of-the-Fleet, Sir Henry Jackson, who has been gravely ill for some days. Sir Henry Bradwardine Jackson is 74. He entered the Navy in IS6S. He has done much for his profession on the scientific side, and is one of the very few naval officers who is a Fellow of the Royal Society. I-Ie was made First Sea Lord in 1915, in succession to Lord Fisher, and was . succeeded in the post by Earl Jellieoe. It was on his recommendation that Sir Doveton Sturdee was sent to destroy the German ships, at the battle of Coronel. He retired in 1921.
