PUPILS’ PRESENTATION TO MISS MORRISON
HAPPY FUNCTION AT EPSOM A pleasing function took place at the Epsom Girls’ Grammar School yesterday afternoon, when the pupils of the school bade farewell to their retiring headmistress, Miss A. C. Morrison. Musical items were played by the school orchestra and the sixth form girls gave scenes from “Cranford" and “Henry V." Later the school assembled on the lawn and under the direction of Miss G. Hutton gave a display of physical culture and Old English dances. The head prefects, Misses Ruth Macky and Betty Warren, presented Miss Morrison with a handsome cabinet gramophone and three books of records, and Miss Macky in a happy little speech referred to the love and admiration with which the whole school regarded their retiring head. Miss Morrison thanked the girls and said how happy she had always been among them. Afternoon tea concluded a very pleasant function. SCHOOL CLOSING KINDERGARTEN AT PAPATOETOE There was a large attendance of parents and friends of the pupils at the breaking-up function of Miss L. Roseveare’s kindergarter school held in the school room, Methodist Hall, Papatoetoe, yesterday afternoon. The hall, which had been prettily decorated by Mesdames Fry, Beddick and Childe, made a delightful setting for the very enjoyable programme of musical items which was given by the young folk, as follow: —Delma Adams, William Wilson, Patricia Afternoon tea was served by the Misses J. Wilson, M. Foser, A. McFarland, I. Gow and F. Willcox. Games were played by the children, who received paper hats, sweets and prizes. During the afternoon Miss Roseveare was the recipient of two pretty bouquets and a box of chocolates from the pupils.
