ROSKILL SOUTH’S REQUEST TO JOIN CITY COMMISSION CONCLUDES Decision was reserved of the continuation this morning of the petition before the commission by the South Roskill Ratepayers - Association for the amalgamation of the southern portion of the Mount Roskill Road District with the City of Auckland. In the last stages of the hearing, M r V. R. Meredith, for the Mount Roskill Road Board. Mr. Milne, for the petitioning association, and Mr. j, Stanton, for the Auckland City Council. outlined the viewpoints of the organisations concerned. Mr. Meredith said there were several objections to the petition. The City did not want the area, people in Mount Roskill did not want to lose the district, and the Fire Board objected. Many residents had signed a counter-petition. The commission announced the delivering of its finding at a later date. Mr. J. G. L. Hewitt. S.M.. presided at the commission, and associated with him were Mr. O. X. Campbell. Commissioner of Crown Lands, and Mr. tv. G. McClintock. district valuer.
