£2,075,000 INVOLVED

NEW CHARGES AGAINST HATRY FOUR DUMMY COMPANY ALLEGED Reed. 11 a.m. LONDON, Tuesday. At the conclusion of the evidence on the original 11 charges, Mr. H. D. Roome, for the prosecution, announced on Friday that there were a further four charges against Clarence Hatry and his colleagues, of obtaining by false pretences sums totalling £1,350 in connection with Iron Industries, Limited. Arising out of these new charges, counsel alleged that Iron Industries, Limited, was a dummy company, created to provide securities on which money could be borrowed, the defendants pledging 2,190,000 Iron Industries shares against loans totalling £2,075,000, although the shares were only waste paper. Walter Morgan gave evidence that Hatry invited him lo be a temporary director. He attended only the first meeting. Ben Dawson said the first intimation that he was chairman of the company was an announcement in a newspaper. The accused were remanded.
