SCOTT WINS ON FOUL

VAN PORAT BOUT ENDS IN SECOND ROUND ENGLISHMAN BADLY HURT NEW YORK, Tuesday. The widely heralded boxing match between Phil Scott, the British heavyweight, and von Porat ended in the second round, when von Porat struck a foul blow, and Scott was declared the winner. Jack Dempsey was the referee. Scott weighed list SJlb and von Porat 14st 2Jlb. There was a record crowd, including many well-known people, at Madison Square Gardens. The first round was von Porat’s by a slight margin. Both men missed often. In the second round when von Porat was reaching for his elusive opponent’s body he landed a low blow. Jack Dempsey, who was refereeing the fight for charity, was uncertain for a few moments. Ho urged Scott to go on, but Scott slowl; sank to the canvas, clutching his body, grimacing, and apparently in pain. Dempsey lifted Scott like a baby, but Scott refused to continue. He wept as he was led to his chair.
