RIOT IN PARIS CINEMA
PATRONS OBJECT TO USE OF ENGLISH PARIS, Monday. There was a serious riot at the Moulin Rouge, which was formerly a music hall and is now a cinema theatre, last evening. The audience objected to the use of English in a talking film and made a mass attack on the box office, demanding the return of their money. The police arrived and sent the people back to their seats, in the hope that the film would be changed. When this was not done the disturbance was renewed. The police eventually cleared the hall. It is stated that the outbreak was fomented by musicians who had been thrown out of work by foreign infringements.
