COUNTERFEIT COINS
MANY CIRCULATING IN CHRISTCHURCH BANKS WARN BUSINESSMEN Press Association CHRISTCHURCH, Today. Christchurch is believed to be the centre from which the counterfeit coins at present in circulation in large numbers are being issued. Banks have given another warning to business people to be careful in accepting silver coins, especially half-crowns and florins. Tellers are regularly turning away large numbers of coins which on examination are found to be spurious. It is extremely difficult to say in which centre the counterfeiters are operating, but the presence here of large numbers of bad coins suggests that the centre, in all probability, is Christchurch.
