RANDOLPH ROSE IN TRAINING THREE MILES EVENT From Our Resident Reporter WELLINGTON, Today. Ou January 11, Randolph Rose, who is now specially training for the event, will endeavour to shatter his own Australian and New Zealand record for three miles. The present record of 14min 29 1-5 sec, was established on the Basin Reserve on March 26, 1929, and Rose’s next effort will be over the same track. Rose is now farming at Inglewood. J. T. Fleming, ex-New Zealand quarter-mile champion, who ran third in the New Zealand quarter-mile last year, when the title was won by A. W. Findlay, of Otago, is training hard and confident of regaining his championship. He has run the quarter in 50see, reported to be tbe best performance by a New Zealander. Fleming is working under the charge of S. Murray, the trainer of the New Zealand Woman champion, Miss Mantann, and present adviser to Miss Norma Wilson, the Gisborne girl who represented the Dominion at the Olympic Games. W. Kyle,' ex-quar-ter-mile champion of New Zealand, also was trained by Murray.
