PREPARING FOR SHOW
A. AND P.A. MEETING Preparations by the Auckland Agricultural and Pastoral Association for its show in February were advanced another stage at a meeting of the association’s council yesterday afternoon. A list of the recommended appointments for judges in the live stock, the poultry and the rabbit sections, and the suggested list of stewards were considered. Adjustments will be necessary before the lists .are complete. Night programmes for the show were deleted, on the recommendation of the attractions committee, which found that the events suffered from counterattractions. Representations for alterations in dates, made to the Auckland Inter-house Girls’ Sports Association and the Military Sports Association, had been unsuccessful. Twenty-six new members were elected. Pigs from Ruakura State Farm stud are expected to be exhibited. Donations announced by the secretary, Mr. W. F. O’Donnell, were: Auckland Racing Club, £42; Auckland Trotting Club, £ls: New Zealand Cattlecake and Oil Company, £2 2s; Avondale Jockey Club, £1 Is; Union Steam Ship Company, £1 Is; Challenge Phosphate Company, half a ton of superphosphate; Walker and Hall, a rose bowl; and the Sheepbreeders’ Association, two shields.
