BISHOPS FROM ABROAD
VISIT TO DOMINION TWO INVITATIONS SENT Two overseas bishops will visit the Dominion in 1931, according to plans made by the New Zealand Board of Anglican Missions, with a view to creating interest in the mission work of the Church. Invitations have been , sent to the Bishop of Western China, Dr. H. W. K. Mowel, and the Bishop of Central Tanganyika, Dr. G. A. Chambers. Educated at King’s College, Canterbury, and at King’s College and Ridley 1 Hall, Cambridge, Dr. Mowell became Dean of Wycliffe College, Toronto, where he went as tutor and professor of theology in 1913. In 1922 he was appointed bishop of the diocese of Western China, being appointed bishop two years later. Dr. Chambers, an Australian, was educated at St. Paul’s College, Sydney. After a period as curate of St. Clement’s, Mosman, Sydney, from 1902 to 1904, he was selected as vice-principal of the Moore Theological College, Sydney, holding that position until 1911, when he became rector of Holy Trinity College, Dulwich Hill. He also acted as warden of Trinity Grammar School, Sydney. Until he was appointed as. Bishop of Central Tanganyika, Dr. Chambers was examining chaplain t:> the Archbishop of Sydney.
