BYRD GEOLOGIST REPORTS PROGRESS
(Received 9.5 a.m.) BAY OF WHALES, Wednesday. Dr. Gould's geological party is now at the foot of the Queen Maud Range, trying to find a way to key points of geological interest. Dr. Gould sent back word to the base that he had tried to ascend the Livs Glacier, but had been stopped by crevasses and precipices of ice, and that he intends to head to the eastward and try to ascend the plateau by way of the Axel Heiberg Glacier.
