ALBANY W.I.
ADDRESS BY THE REV. W. G MONCKTON
Under the auspices of the Albany Women’s Institute, the Rev. W. G. Alonckton, AT.A., delivered an interesting lecture on “Women and the League of Nations” before an appreciative audience in the Albany Coronation Hall. Mrs. Phillips, vice-president of the institute, introduced the lecturer, who prefaced his subject by giving a history of the League of Nations, which had its origin in a letter appearing in the “Contemporary Review,” written by* a comparatively unknown writer, in November, 1914, and in the further efforts of Lord Robert Cecil in 1916. It was not till the league took up the subject of child welfare that women became actively interested in the movement. A hearty vote of thanks was accorded by acclamation, on the motion of the president, and supper was served at the close of the meeting.
