PLANS AMENDED
“BACHELOR FLATS” SCHEME
NOW CALLED APARTMENTS Plans of the original Marlborough Mansions “bachelor” flats, which were disapproved by the Town Planning Board and the City Council, as they did not conform to the recognised principles of town planning, have been amended by the architect, Mr. Surrey S. Alleman. They were before the City Council last evening. In submitting the tiew plans to the Acting-City Engineer, Mr. J. Tyler, for report, the architect said his scheme had been altered for the purpose of obtaining a temporary permit. The plans complied with the requirements of the Town Planning Board, and had been approved by the Director of Town Planning. The architect had stated that the building did not come within the scope of the conditions recently drawn up in connection with the erection of multi-family dwellings, but he looked upon it merely as an apartment house. The Town Planning Committee will report.
