NEED FOR NEW AREAS From Our Own Correspondent TAUMARUNUI, Thursday. The steady growth of Taumarunui’s population during the past few years and the consequent increased demand on municipal undertakings, is beginning to cause interesting speculations in regard to the future. This is particularly noticeable in connection with the water supply, the demand for which in the warm summer months has expanded greatly. The parks, reserves and works committee has presented the following recommendation to the borough Council: “That the committee views with concern the future adequacy of the present catchment area, and recommends endeavouring to secure a new area, and that the council give the committee power to investigate the matter of securing a new source of supply and report progress from time to time.” The desired authority was granted.
