“SHIP’S BULLY”

FINE FOR UNPROVOKED ASSAULT

PORT DARWIN INCIDENT “Ha is the bully of the ship and imagines himself to be a bit of a fighting man,” commented Sub-In-spector McCarthy when James Cain was fined £2 at the Police Court this morning for assault. Cane, a seaman, aged 25, pleaded guilty to assaulting Harold Forrest yesterday. The sub-inspector said that accused was from the Port Darwin. He had had drink and went aboard the ship where men were working. He hit one man in the eye and knocked him about until he was arrested by Constable Chalcroft. The ship was sailing today. Captain Sawbridge, of the Port Darwin, said that the man had money due to him, and a fine was imposed.
