PROBATION FOR YOUNG PAINTER
TWO THEFT CHARGES “I think the bright lights of the City were too much for him,” said Mr. Noble, when Edward Holder Mclntyre appeared for sentence at the Police Court this morning on two charges of theft. He was admitted to probation for two years. “Perhaps it was the lights of this diamond ring that affected him most,” suggested Mr. F. K. Hunt, S.M. Mclntyre was charged with stealing a diamond engagement ring valued at £3O, the property of Isabel Paterson, on November 6, and the theft of £1 on November 1. It was stated that Mclntyre had stolen both ring and money from a bedroom in the home of Dr. J. A. Paterson, where he had been working. “He has had a week in gaol and that is enough to show him where he is heading,” said Mr. Hunt, admitting accused to probation. He was ordered to make restitution of £5.
