CLAIM BY WOMAN
MONEY LENT TO MAN MARRIAGE TO MALTESE From Our Own Correspondent HAMILTON, Today. An unusual case came before Mr. Justice Herdman today, when Amelia Alice Tarwell sought' an order declaring her to be the owner of certain property comprising the estate of the late Richard Stevens who lived near Te Kuiti. It was shown that plaintiff lived with Stevens from 1909 till his d.eath recently, first in England from whence they came to New Zealand in 1911. She had two children by Stevens. As long ago as 1892 Stevens married a Maltese girl. She was still alive and had a son, Plaintiff said she advanced money to Stevens to purchase the farm. He had always given her his wages as though she were his wife. (Proceeding.)
