COMMITTEE RESIGNS
MANAGER FOR SCHOOL APPOINTED FINANCIAL TROUBLE “A pitiable state of affairs,” was the description applied at the Education Board this morning by Mr. J. Boddie to the resignation of the school committee at Otorohanga. The board received a letter front the committee members containing their resignations, ‘‘owing to the impossibility of meeting ordinary expenses incurred in the fulfilment of our duties.” The committee said £167 had already been subscribed this year by the public of Otorohanga for special charges in connection with the school. The committee considered it would be wrongful to approach the public again for contributions. The board received the resignations with regret, after discussion, and appointed a manager, Mr. Atkinson, to carry on the committee duties until the next election of the committee. Mr. J. Primrose said the committee members had contributed liberally to the funds.
