TAUMARUNUI WEDDING

TWO MAIDS IN GREEN McDonald—fanthorpe A wedding occasioning a good deal of local interest was celebrated at the Anglican Church, Taumarunui, when Alice Maude, second daughter of Mr. and Mrs. F. Fanthorpe, of Taumarunui, was married to James Egmont McDonald, second son of Mr. and Mrs. J. S. McDonald, of Marton. The church was prettily decorated by friends and the service was performed by the vicar, the Rev. J. W. Hurley. Mrs. Burley presided at the organ. Entering the church with her father, the bride wore a charming wedding gown of ivory georgette and radium lace, the corsage close-fitting, the skirt flared and finished in an uneven hemline. An egyptian headdress of satin, faggoted with silver thread, held in •place a lovely embroidered tulle veil which flowed to a pointed train, and was finished with little clusters of orange blossoms. A beautiful shower bouquet was composed of St. Joseph lilies, roses, stocks and sweet peas, clustered with maidenhair fern and tulle streamers. Miss Thelma McDonald, of Marton, a sister of the bridegroom, and Miss Lilia Pierce, of Taumarunui, attended the bride, both maids being attired alike in dainty frocks of leaf-green georgette, with plain corsages and long, full skirts with ruchings of taffeta at the hemline. A large taffeta bow was worn with each frock, and large picture hats of lace straw trimmed with coloured posies. Their bouquets were of soft, shades of gold and lemon. Mr. W. Tompkins was best man and Mr. AV. Fanthorpe groomsman.

The reception was held at the residence of the bride’s parents, the house and grounds being specially illuminated and presenting a gay scene. Mrs. Fanthorpe wore a handsome french gown of black georgette and lace, with sleeveless coat of the same materials, and a floral toque in mauve shades, finished with plumes. Her bouquet toned with her frock. Mrs. W. Forbes, a sister of the bride, was wearing a model gown of pastel blue georgette and gold brocade, witli a short coat of the same material, and hat to tone. The bridegroom’s mother wore a frock of floral satin under a smart coat, with a black hat and bouquet in toning shades. After the usual toasts were honoured, the bride and bridegroom left by motor. The bride wore a costume of saxe and silver grej*, with closefitting hat, and coat of french grey.
