FREEZING COMPANY’S LOSSES

DISLOYALTY OF SHAREHOLDERS’ GISBORNE, Saturday. Unequivocal terms were employed by Mr. J. W. Nolan, chairman of directors. in an address to the annual meeting of shareholders in the Gisborne Sheepfarmers Frozen Meat and Mercantile Co.. Ltd., when he charged a section of the shareholders with disloyalty to themselves, to their company. and to the financial and business interests with which the company deals. “The writing is on the wall, staring s’oti in the face: it plainly says that unless the supply of stock is forthcoming, your works must close down.” stated the chairman at one stage. He added the warning that this eventuality would leave the producers of the district entirely in the hands of exporters of frozen meat. Killings at the company’s work for the 1925-29 season showed a decrease on the figures for the previous season of 154.453 carcases.
