DEVONPORT BRIDE WEARS VEIL EMBROIDERED WITH ROSES AND LOVERS’ KNOTS

BIGN ALL—VALENTINE

A wedding of interest to naval people was celebrated at the Church of the Holy Trinity, Devonport, by the Rev. Mr. Greenwood, a friend of the bride’s family. The bride was Miss Tui Vance Valentine, elder daughter of Mr. and Mrs. H. F. Valentine, of Cameron Street, Takapuna, and the bridegroom Mr. G. H. Bignall, of Bedford, England.

The bride, -who was given away by her father, wore an early Victorian frock, with a full skirt of ivory souple satin, and a tight-fitting corsage embroidered in silver. The long sleeves were of silver lacc. Small clusters of orange blossom held in place a veil of white tulle, which was beautifully embroidered with roses and lovers’ knots. A white and lotus-pink shower bouquet completed a charming picture. In attendance on the bride was Miss Hino Valentine, wearing a frock of blue georgette, with a large bow of french taffeta beneath a tight corsage, tho skirt falling in deep points. A bouquet of pale apricot tinted blossoms was carried. Also in attendance was Miss Edna Boswell, who wore a frock of rose pink georgette in similar style, and carried a bouquet of sunset pink flowers. Both wore Hutch caps tu tone with their frocks. Mr. Smallwood fulfilled the duties of best man, Mr. Hogben acting as groomsman. A fully choral service was played by Mr. Kemp. A reception was held later at the home of the bride’s parents, Mrs. Valentino receiving the guests in a frock of midnight blue georgette, with touches of beige and a hat to tone.
