NEW REGENT

“THE COCOANUTS”

The four Marx brothers, who are probably the most successful of modern American humorists, have the leading roles in “The Cocoanuts,” the all-talking picture which, is now in its second week at the New Regent Theatre.

The supporting cast includes such well-known Broadway players as Oscar Shaw, Mary Eaton, Katherine Francis, Margaret Dumont, Cyril Ring, Basil Ruysdaol and Sylvan Lee. Directed by Joseph Santley and Robert Florey, from the story by Joseph Kaufmann, the film is one of the most enjoyable comedy productions which has been screened in Auckland for some time, and is proving popular. The locale is Florida, where a beautiful debutante is spending the winter with her socially ambitious aunt. The girl and a clerk at tho hotel fall in love, and in order to make some money quickly the young man tries his hand at the real estate business, with disastrous Yesul-ts. A varied attractive short-subject programme is also shown. A fine quartet from "Rigoletto,” a Pathe Review and a talking comedy, "Post Mortems,” are special features.
