SUITABILITY OF DEAN
DISPUTE WITH BISHOP ARCHBISHOP TO MEDIATE From Our Own Correspondent HAMILTON, Friday. The suitability of Dean G. R. Ba* nett to retain his present position ifi to be investigated by a commission, with Archbishop Averill as chairman. Some months ago the question was raised by Bishop Cherrington as to whether the dean was suitable to hold office as dean of Hamilton, and he sought to have a committee set up to inquire into the position. The dean took the question to the Supreme Court, and secured an interim irjunotion restraining the bishop from taking the contemplated action. The commission, which has now been agreed to by the bishop and the dean, will consist of Archbishop Averill and two Auckland assessors, a clergyman and a layman, to be appointed by the archbishop. Evidence, which will be heard in private, will be taken in Hamilton.
